AIA Las Vegas' 24-hour Town Hall Charrette

In support of the AIA 150 nation-wide celebration, the Las Vegas chapter has chosen to conduct a 24-hour Town Hall Meeting & Design Charrette based on the core objectives of the “Blueprint for America” Initiative. This will occur begin on April 13 at noon at the Paul Sogg Architecture Building in the Architecture Studies Library and continue through 1:30pm on April 14th.

Your knowledge and presence is needed to discuss the future of Southern Nevada as a Livable and Sustainable Community. This concentrated around-the-clock design charrette is a unique opportunity for the public, business and civic leaders to join with architects and design professionals in a collaborative effort to identify problematic issues, develop and create potential solutions and initiate a more sustainable and livable future for our city. And yes, the 24-hour Charrette is actually a full 24 hours, but don't let that scare you because the charrette will! be exciting and fun! The 24-hour Town Hall Meeting is open to all members of the community.

The local Las Vegas chapter of the AIA has chosen to conduct a 24-hour Town Hall Meeting / Design Charrette, based on the core objectives of the "Blue Print for America" initiative, in support of the AIA 150 nation wide celebration.

This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with a diverse and creative group of local community members to help identify local livable community issues, develop and elaborate on potential solutions to the issues, and present those findings to a prominent group of local leaders and decision makers.

The subject and focus of the 24-hour Town Hall Meeting will be on how to make Las Vegas a more livable community. The results of this 24-hour "ideas" session will be later memorialized in a "Blueprint for Nevada" document (one section for Reno and one section for Las Vegas) which will be presented to the Governor and/or public officials at the end of 2007.

The Eight Focus Groups for the 24-Hour Town hall Meeting Discussion are:
